MIMO Networks With One-Bit ADCs: Receiver Design and Communication Strategies

نویسندگان

چکیده

High resolution analog to digital converters (ADCs) are conventionally used at the receiver terminals store an accurate representation of received signal, thereby allowing for reliable decoding transmitted messages. However, in a wide range applications, such as communication over millimeter wave and massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, use high ADCs is not feasible due power budget limitations. In conventional fully design, where each antenna connected distinct ADC, reducing ADC leads performance loss terms achievable rates. One proposed method mitigate rate-loss linear combiners leading design hybrid receivers. Here, framework augmented by addition delay elements allow temporal processing. Two new classes receivers consisting elements, combiners, one-bit proposed. The fundamental limits single multi-user (uplink downlink) MIMO systems employing investigated. signal noise ratio regime, it shown that achieve maximum rates among all with same number ADCs.

Throughput analysis of massive MIMO uplink with one-bit ADCs

Massive MIMO is a disruptive technology that consists of equipping communication transceivers with an excessive number of antennas to enable unprecedented gains in throughput and radiated energy efficiency. From an industry perspective, massive MIMO will happen only if the required large antenna arrays can be built out of low-cost (and, hence, low-precision) components. Therefore it is of inter...

Quantization Design and Channel Estimation for Massive MIMO Systems with One-Bit ADCs

We consider the problem of channel estimation for uplink multiuser massive MIMO systems, where, in order to significantly reduce the hardware cost and power consumption, one-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are used at the base station (BS) to quantize the received signal. Channel estimation for one-bit massive MIMO systems is challenging due to the severe distortion caused by the coarse...

One-Bit Sphere Decoding for Uplink Massive MIMO Systems with One-Bit ADCs

This paper presents a low-complexity near-maximum-likelihood-detection (near-MLD) algorithm called one-bit-sphere-decoding for an uplink massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with one-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The idea of the proposed algorithm is to estimate the transmitted symbol vector sent by uplink users (a codeword vector) by searching over a sphere, which co...

Multipair Massive MIMO Relaying Systems with One-Bit ADCs and DACs

This paper considers a multipair amplify-andforward massive MIMO relaying system with one-bit ADCs and one-bit DACs at the relay. The channel state information is estimated via pilot training, and then utilized by the relay to perform simple maximum-ratio combining/maximum-ratio transmission processing. Leveraging on the Bussgang decomposition, an exact achievable rate is derived for the system...

Blind Estimation of Sparse Broadband Massive MIMO Channels with Ideal and One-bit ADCs

We study the maximum likelihood problem for the blind estimation of massive mmWave MIMO channels while taking into account their underlying sparse structure, the temporal shifts across antennas in the broadband regime, and ultimately one-bit quantization at the receiver. The sparsity in the angular domain is exploited as a key property to enable the unambiguous blind separation between user’s c...
